Nowadays, one of the options that are open to you, if you are intending to buy a ventless portable air conditioner, is that of purchasing the appliance online. By opting to buy a ventless portable air conditioner online, you may get a chance to save quite a bit of cash. This is because the online stores that sell air conditioners tend to compete on prices. The online vendors therefore offer prices that are, on average, lower than those offered by the brick and mortar stores that sell the same appliances. By opting to buy a ventless portable air conditioner online, you may also get a greater variety — in terms of brands, models and other such things — to choose from. You get a greater variety to choose from than would have been the case had you opted to purchase the air conditioning unit in a local brick and mortar outlet.
Contrary to what some people say, the option of buying ventless portable air conditioners online isn’t just open to folks who are keen on buying brand new units. Even if you are seeking to buy a second hand ventless portable air conditioner, you can still do so online: as there are online stores where you can find second hand air conditioners on sale.
The procedure for buying ventless portable air conditioner online is simple. You initiate the process by going to a website where there are such appliances on sale. Then you select the specific air conditioner you wish to buy, and pay for it — using a credit card, debit card, PayPal or some other such method. Then you wait for it to be shipped to you. To identify the websites where ventless portable air conditioners are on sale, you can use a search engine or a directory site.
There are those who have concerns about being scammed, while trying to buy a ventless portable air conditioner online. These concerns are justified. But then again, if you take the right precautions, chances of you being scammed are minimal.
I have recently found myself in a situation where I had to import rice cookers. This happened after I came to the realization that the rice cookers that were on offer in the local shops were not of satisfactory quality. So I decided to import the appliances, hoping to get rice cookers of the right quality, while also (hopefully) getting to save some money — as I also felt that the prices at which the appliances were being sold locally were unreasonably exorbitant. Having made the decision to import the rice cookers, I decided to go ahead and create a budget for the project. And this is where I seem to have gone astray: as I ignored several important costs (which I ended up having to cater for later, thus messing up with my budget completely). From the whole experience, I have learnt that there are several costs that you have to factor in when importing rice cookers. For your benefit, I wish to share the same with you here.
Firstly and most obviously, when importing rice cookers, you have to factor in the cost of procuring the cookers from the manufacturer (or from the international vendor you will be procuring the appliances from). Now the mistake I made here was that of simply looking at the stated prices, without considering the fact that I would have to incur further expenses in transferring funds from my end to the rice cooker vendor’s end. Worth noting is the fact that international money transfer costs can be quite exorbitant. So you need to factor in the basic cost of the rice cookers, as well as the cost of transferring the funds to the vendor.
Secondly, when importing rice cookers, you have to factor in shipping costs. The mistake I made here was that of simply making a provision for international shipping. I therefore ignored the fact that once the rice cookers landed at my local port, I would have to incur further (and significant) costs in moving them from the port to my warehouse.
Thirdly, when importing rice cookers, you have to factor in taxes. The mistake I made here was that of assuming that customs taxes were the only taxes to be catered for. I came to realize that there were several other taxes to be taken into consideration. The lesson here is that you need to be aware of all applicable taxes. Then you need to make provisions for all those taxes: as you can be assured that you won’t be able to move the rice cookers from the port until you have cleared each and every tax obligation.
